Admission Requirements
International students are required to fulfill a number of admission requirements to study at the university.
Academic Requirements
The student must have a high school diploma or its equivalent from a recognized school, must meet the admission requirements for the academic major, and must have a minimum GPA of 70% or its equivalent in the Canadian GPA. The student must also fulfill other special requirements based on the study program they wish to study.
English Language Requirements
Students who are non-native speakers of English or who have not attended an English language school must demonstrate English language proficiency.
To demonstrate English language proficiency, the student can take an approved English language test, such as: IELTS with a score of 6.5 (with no sub-skill score below 6.0) or equivalent.
Students who meet all entry requirements for their program except for the English language proficiency requirements may be admitted to their academic program provided they complete the Lakehead University Academic English Program.

International Admission Scholarship for Undergraduate Programs 2021-2022
The university offers international students an award of up to CAD 40,000 on tuition fees. Non-Canadian applicants from high school or equivalent, or transferring from an international college or university are automatically eligible for the scholarship. The value of the scholarship available is based on the student’s academic GPA:
Students who earn 75.0% - 79.9% - CAD 6,000 (CAD 6,000 for the first year only).
Students receive 80.0% - 89.9% - CAD 30,000 ($7,500 CAD - 4 years).
Students with a score of 90.0% or higher - CAD 40,000 (CAD 10,000 - 4 years).
